Kintetsu Nara Station is located underground, and when you go up the east exit, you'll come out to a large, roofed plaza.
Although it's outdoors, the large roof provides shelter from the rain and wind, so you could almost call it an indoor space.
There's a bronze statue of Gyoki, who contributed to the construction of the Great Buddha of Nara, and it seems the locals call this area Gyoki Plaza.
It appears to be a well-known meeting spot for the locals.
