A 10-minute walk from Honjima Island's Tomari Port in the Shiwaku Islands will bring you to the remains of the Shiwaku Kinban-sho. It's located in front of the Nagaya-mon gate of the Shiwaku Kinban-sho.
The Shiwaku Islands are unique in that they were granted self-governance by the Edo shogunate. This Kinban-sho was where the island's political affairs were conducted.
Inside the Kinban-sho, you can see official documents, including those from Tokugawa Ieyasu, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Oda Nobunaga, which recognized the island's autonomy.
