As you exit the ticket gates, you'll find a number of single-seat benches, mainly around the pillars in the concourse. There’s even a dinosaur taking a rest on one of the benches!
Fukui Station gave me the impression that everything was ready for the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen in the spring of 2024.
With the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga stations, the conventional lines will be separated from JR and transferred to a third-sector railway.
Considering the recent issues facing local train lines, it seems that the age of railway consolidation is upon us. It's a sad state of affairs for someone like me, who loves taking train trips, especially when I can travel on a budget and enjoy the journey!
