You can find the ruins of Fukui Castle, about a 5-minute walk from Fukui Station. The moat and stone walls of the main keep remain, but instead of a castle tower, you'll find the Fukui Prefectural Government and Fukui Prefectural Police buildings.
Although no castle structures from the Edo period remain, it might have become a major tourist attraction in Fukui City if they had. By the way, the Corridor Bridge, the Yagura Gate, and the gate have been rebuilt in recent years.
There are about four benches set up along the moat across the road from the JA Fukui Prefectural Agricultural Association Hall. It seems that more benches are set up if you go around the moat.
