Near the south exit of Akigawa Station, there's a sports park called Takeuchi Hiroba.
It's a surprisingly large park for being in front of a station, and it even looks like you could play a game of catch there. There are also restrooms available.
The benches are small, with a row of two-person benches.
It seems like a great spot to have lunch or meet up with someone near Akigawa Station.
