The two-story wooden station building at Choshi Station is a new building that was completed in April 2018. It's quite recent!
The terminal station of the Sobu Main Line has been reborn into a warm and inviting station building, and it's unique in that it has a piano.
So, I decided to check out the plaza next to the bus and taxi rotary in front of Choshi Station.

Instead of the "Welcome to Choshi" arch, my eyes were drawn to the structure on the right, which looks like a honey dip.
It seems like an ordinary plaza, but it's apparently illuminated with illuminations and balloon art in the winter.

There was a stone monument of Doppo Kunikida.
He was born in Choshi and lived there until he was 4 years old, so it is a place of connection and is featured in many places in the city.
There's a famous literary monument a short walk from the coast station of Choshi Electric Railway, which is also a difficult-to-read station name in Chiba.
So, I went to see it.

The poem monument didn't come out well in the photo, so enjoy it when you go (lol)
Since you are reading this article, it is a good opportunity to touch the works of Doppo Kunikida again!?
Now, where are the places to sit!? Let's take a look, as it seems that's what you're wondering.

There were three two-seater benches set up around the fountain plaza.
These are benches with good weather resistance and sturdy bases.
Perhaps due to the new station building, the plaza is well-maintained and clean for being in front of the station, so it's convenient when you want to take a break near Choshi Station.
The fountain wasn't operating at the time, but perhaps it's controlled by a timer.

You can also use this place as a meeting spot or to eat lunch in Choshi.
By the way, Choshi is known as the town of soy sauce, and there are factories for Yamasa and Higeta Soy Sauce, and you can visit the factories on weekdays.
And, there's soy sauce soft serve ice cream in Choshi, which you can buy at NEWDAYS next to Choshi Station or at Choshi Select Market!
So, how about eating soy sauce soft serve ice cream on this bench as part of your Choshi sightseeing! ?

The main street leading to the Tone River stretched out in front of the rotary plaza.
By the way, there is a rental cycle service in front of Choshi Station, so it's also a good idea to rent a bicycle and go to the Choshi Ohashi Bridge or the Choshi Select Market, where you can find Choshi specialties.
If we're talking about specialties of Choshi, it's the "nure senbei" (wet rice crackers).
The soggy texture is addictive, and I bought a lot of them on my way back from looking for benches♪
Did you know that the Choshi Electric Railway's management was saved thanks to the hit of the "nure senbei" !?
Also, if you are looking for Choshi souvenirs or soy sauce soft serve ice cream, we recommend you to visit the "Choshi Select Market"!
Also, take the Choshi Electric Railway and experience the "【Inuboh Station】Station Square Nure Senbei (Wet Rice Cracker) Baking Experience"♪
So, why not use it as a rest area around Choshi Station?
