When you think of the east exit of Kamakura Station, you probably imagine "Komachi Street," "Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine," and the shops lining the main road leading to Hachimangu Shrine, all famous spots for sightseeing in Kamakura.
At Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, you'll often see Shinto wedding ceremonies being held, in addition to the usual visitors, making it a lively place.
There is a rest area where you can sit, located in front of Tsurugaoka Kindergarten, around the Genji Pond of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
There are four stone benches, each seating four people.
During the day, families with children often use this area, but it's usually less crowded in the evening.
Also, this rest area is known for the appearance of wild squirrels, and I've seen them there twice before.
If you're lucky, you might spot squirrels strolling along the roof of the benches and the trees on either side.
If you're looking for tables near Kamakura Station, you might want to head towards the west exit, where you can find the "rest area with seating in front of Little Mermaid, next to Kamakura City Hall." It might be worth checking it out.
At Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, there are also unique "dove fortunes," so why not give them a try?
When visiting Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, how about using this as a rest area with seating near Kamakura Station?
P.S.:
During my research for places to sit in Kamakura, I stopped by "Caraway," a popular curry restaurant in Kamakura.
Their rich beef curry is incredibly delicious, so I highly recommend it when you're sightseeing in Kamakura.
Personally, it's one of my favorites, second only to "Bondy" in Jimbocho.
