At the south exit of Mitaka Station, there's Atre Vie, which is directly connected to the station. Right in front of it, when you exit Atre, you'll find a pedestrian deck.
This pedestrian deck is mainly divided into three directions, offering access to the commercial facility Mitaka Coral, the supermarket Ozeki, the Tamagawa Josui area, and the Sanpei Store area.
And, on the south exit pedestrian deck of Mitaka Station, there were several places where you could sit and take a break.

This is the view from the benches towards the Atre area of the south exit of Mitaka Station.
Since benches are set up directly in front of the station, it's an easy-to-find spot for meeting up in Mitaka.

There were three 3-seater wooden benches installed.
Planting areas are set up between the benches, creating a relaxing environment that's a lot more comfortable for taking a break than the often stark benches you see on pedestrian decks.
However, as the picture shows, the area gets good sunlight depending on the time of day, so you might only want to use it for a short break in the summer.

Next, as you head towards the Tamagawa Josui area, you'll find six 3-seater wooden benches.
The supermarket Ozeki is your landmark here.
These benches offer a view of the Mitaka Station platforms, which will likely delight any children who love trains.

This spot is less crowded than the benches I introduced at the beginning, making it a great place to relax if you want a quiet break near Mitaka Station!
When I visited around 3:00 PM in early August, the shade from the building allowed me to rest away from direct sunlight.
By the way, it seems you can use Mitaka City's free Wi-Fi!
It's surprisingly convenient, isn't it?
Besides being a meeting spot in Mitaka, it can also be used as a place to eat your lunch.
It's great to be able to quickly grab a bite here when you're short on time!
Also, since there are many seats, it's a good place for groups to meet up, too.
So, why not try using it as a place to take a break around Mitaka Station?
