When you exit the ticket gates of Mitaka Station and go out the south exit, you will come to the pedestrian deck.
When you go down the stairs of the deck, there is a rotary where buses depart and arrive, heading to Chofu, Jindai Botanical Garden, Sengawa, and the Ghibli Museum, Mitaka.
And, there was a place to sit and rest near the Tamagawa Josui River in front of the station rotary.

20 one-seater benches are installed.
In a wide area shaped like a delta, there were two trees planted around the benches.
When I visited around 15:00 in early August, it was a sunny day and I was sweating during the daytime.
However, since the rest space is wide, it is convenient as a meeting place in Mitaka or as a gathering place for groups.
Also, it seems that you can use Mitaka City's free Wi-Fi at this rest area!
Now, there is a river flowing right next to the rest area.
This river is called "Tamagawa Josui," and it is one of the six waterways that used to supply drinking water to Edo city.
You can take a walk along the Tamagawa Josui River to Inokashira Park in Kichijoji and the Ghibli Museum, Mitaka.
It seems nice to meet at this rest area and enjoy a leisurely walk in Mitaka.
If you want to know more about Tamagawa Josui, you can learn at the free "Tokyo Waterworks Historical Museum" in Ochanomizu.
The historical museum is characterized by a free rest area and a plastic bottle dispenser.

Also, there were four long, narrow benches along the tracks of the station rotary!
Do you remember the "balance beam" that you played on in elementary school?
It's exactly a balance beam bench! There were no users 笑
In addition, the public toilet nearby is...

If you want to take a break in a more relaxing place, the "Pedestrian deck bench" in front of the Supermarket Ozeki is recommended!
So, why not use it as a resting place with seats around Mitaka Station?
