On the New Shuttle side of the west exit of Omiya Station, there is a shopping center called DOM.
It used to have "OPA" as its main tenant, but it closed in 2017, and Uniqlo and Honeys opened there.

By the way, DOM is pronounced "Don" as it means "to gather" in Japanese!
I always thought it was from Dom Dom Burger...
And what surprised me recently was the origin of DOM.
The current main tenants are Daiei Omiya store and Marui Omiya store, and it is said that the name "DOM" was created from the first letters of each of them: "D" (Daiei), "O" (Omiya), and "M" (Marui)!
DOM, which is made up of three initials, is reminiscent of "Koiwai Farm" and "Kioi-cho"!
Let's move on. You can access DOM directly from the pedestrian deck of the west exit of Omiya Station.
From the west exit, go straight along the deck, and go down the spiral staircase near the DOM and Marui entrances to B1F.
And, in front of the curry udon restaurant "Senkichi" next to the elevator, there is a rest area called "Sealight".
(If you are unsure of the location, please refer to the route search and map at the bottom of the page)

There were 6 two-seater tables and 3 benches installed.
I had been to Omiya many times, but I didn't know there was such a rest area a 2-minute walk from Omiya Station!
There were people working at desks and eating lunch at the tables, so it seems like it can be used as a place for remote work or eating lunch in Omiya.
However, as you can see from the photo, it is a smoking space separated by planting.
The right side is the smoking area, and the smell of cigarettes is quite strong, so you may want to avoid it if you don't like it.

This rest area had a nameplate that read "Sealight" on the wall.
There was a fountain of a lion that looks like it's from Europe, and there was no "sea" feel to the rest area name...
It's a rest space surrounded by a spiral staircase, so it's in a place that's not very noticeable.
I thought it was a hidden rest spot for non-smokers.
Also, if you want to use a table seat with a power outlet, "DOM B1F Daiei Eat-in Corner" is recommended, so please stop by!
So, why not use it as a rest area around Omiya?
