The west exit of Omiya Station is a pedestrian deck, providing direct access to facilities such as Omiya Sonic City, Sogo, Arche, DOM, and Marui.
Beneath the pedestrian deck, near Arche and DOM, there's a public art piece called "Water Bird."

This monument was established to commemorate the completion of the Omiya Station West Exit District Redevelopment Project, which began in 1969.
It's designed to resemble water birds taking flight, symbolizing the "modernity," "strength," and "dynamism" of the revitalized city.
"Water Bird" is the nickname of the monument, chosen through a public contest.

Here's a view from the deck.
There were places to sit and rest around this Water Bird.

Two gourd-shaped stone benches were installed on the Lumine 2 side.
These benches had wide seating surfaces, making them easy to use even if you have a lot of luggage.
They seem convenient as a meeting spot at Omiya Station for clubs or groups.
As you can see by looking above, it's under the deck's eaves, so you should be able to take a break while sheltering from the rain.
However, it might be challenging if there's a strong crosswind.

Two two-seater wooden benches were installed on the DOM side.
Since the road leading to the rotary in front of the station is directly behind them, it gave a slightly unsettling impression.
As a resting place located in front of a terminal station, the environment isn't the best.
Because many people use it, there are concerns about safety at night.
However, I thought it was a convenient resting spot for meeting at Omiya Station.
By the way, we also recommend the "DOM B1F Table Seating Rest Area" and "DOM 2F Deck Bench with a Roof" nearby, so please visit them as well!
So, how about using these spots as places to take a break and sit down around Omiya?
