Kitazawa Town Hall is a 12-story building that houses the Kitazawa General Branch Office and hosts events such as concerts in the hall, as well as serving as a counter for residents of Setagaya Ward.

To get to Kitazawa Town Hall, go out the east exit of Shimokitazawa Station, pass in front of Ozeki and Honda Theater, and turn left at a slightly larger street where Nippon Rent-A-Car is located.

 

Here is the exterior of Kitazawa Town Hall. It is characterized by a bus rotary inside the 1F building.

And you can see the arch of the rooftop garden on the upper left of the building.

I was confused during the survey, because I thought the rooftop garden would be on the 12th floor, but it's actually on the 5th floor...

 

And there's another point that can throw you off here (laughs).

Kitazawa Town Hall has two types of elevators: one for high floors and one for low floors. Both have signs for the rooftop garden, but you can only access the rooftop garden from the low-rise elevator!

I realized this later, but I first tried to access it from the high-rise elevator, and I couldn't reach the rooftop garden even if I tried to go up the stairs from the 4th floor, so I gave up on the survey once (laughs).

 

Well, I finally arrived at the entrance to the rooftop garden by the low-rise elevator.

It's open from 8:30 to 17:00. I wonder if it changes depending on the season?

 

"Eh...? Is this really Shimokitazawa!?" I couldn't help but exclaim at the open feeling of the rooftop garden!

I felt even more that way after visiting the rest area on the 1st floor of the Town Hall.

 

Wow, the green grass looks great, and above all, it's a clean resting place because it's so well-maintained!

There were benches under the pergola.

The material is good for draining water and dirt, and it was kept in a beautiful condition that didn't make me think it was an outdoor bench.

Moreover, the wind is so pleasant and the place is so comfortable! It's also great for reading or eating a Shimokitazawa lunch!

 

There was a flower bed next to the benches, and roses were being grown.

I wonder if it will become a rose arch depending on the season!?

 

And there's also a biotope. It seems they are also putting effort into the natural environment.

It is said that small creatures live there. Let's find them with your children!
