"Wow, there's a bench here!?" You're sure to be surprised by this rest area, the bench in the East-West Free Passage.
If you've ever passed through here outside of rush hour, you might have already noticed it.

This is Shinagawa's main street, connecting the Keikyu Line, JR Lines, and Shinkansen.
The term "artery" is often used in the road infrastructure and logistics industries, but this is truly an artery for people.
You might be overwhelmed by the flow of people, as if they're all saying, "Where is everyone going...?"
Now, if you walk along the wall near the JR Shinagawa Station ticket gates... you'll find a bench where you can sit and take a break!

There are three single stone benches on both sides!
I hadn't noticed them before because they were hidden by people (lol)
It seems like it can be used as a meeting spot at Shinagawa Station.

It was quite difficult to take a photo from this position! It was really in the way, so I had to be careful (lol)
Speaking of which, if you look at the first photo, you'll see that everyone is walking perfectly along the lines between the white and gray panels on the ground.
I wonder if it's a design that applies human psychology!?
So, since the white panels seem to be the walking zones, it looks like the space on the gray panels where the benches are located can be secured.
How about some people-watching in front of Shinagawa Station!?
If you sit on this bench during rush hour, you might feel a different sense of the world.
So, why not use this as a place to rest in Shinagawa?
