From the moment you get off the train at Tsuruhashi Station, the aroma of yakiniku (grilled meat) fills the air. This area is one of Japan's leading Korean Towns. There are many shops related to Korea around the station.
Walking through Tsuruhashi Shopping Street after exiting the West Exit, you'll find a multitude of shops lining the way. It has a very diverse atmosphere, but it feels like a place from a bygone era, which gives it a special charm.
In front of Hirayama Shoten, a shop outside the arcade, there are benches and seats. It seems you're free to sit down. It's a great spot to sit and enjoy the food you bought in the shopping street, don't you think?
Around Tsuruhashi Station, you'll often see signs warning against public urination. It's a bit of a culture shock, as it suggests there are quite a few people who do it!
