Sakaiminato City is the hometown of Shigeru Mizuki, the creator of the popular "GeGeGe no Kitaro." Here, you'll find the JR Sakai Line, where trains are decorated with characters from "GeGeGe no Kitaro." The stations themselves have nicknames based on the characters, and the town actively uses "GeGeGe no Kitaro" to attract visitors.
Sakaiminato Station is nicknamed Kitaro Station. In front of the station, you'll find statues of Kitaro, Nezumi Otoko (the character), and Mr. Shigeru Mizuki.
Inside the station, near the ticket gates, you'll find two sets of seating, each with three individual seats.
