Futako Tamagawa Rise is a large shopping mall that surrounds Futako-Tamagawa Station, and the facilities extend along the Tama River from right in front of the station ticket gates.
Each area has a name: "Shopping Center, Dogwood Plaza, Oak Mall, Birds Mall, and Plaza Mall."
To make matters even more complicated, the shopping center is divided into four sections: "Station Market, Town Front, River Front, and Terrace Market."
There are a lot of katakana words, aren't there? Haha!
And, I discovered benches where you can sit and relax at the Harappa Hiroba (Open Field Plaza) and Aozora Deck (Sky Deck) on the 5th floor of the Terrace Market!

On the rooftop area of the 5th floor of the Terrace Market, there's an open and airy Harappa Hiroba, where many benches are installed.
These are stylish benches with a unique gabion base.
What is a gabion?
If you're wondering, this article explains it. (I, the manager, Penta, also learned about it for the first time!)
And now, let's take a look at the benches on the curved part of the Harappa Hiroba!

Mini tables are placed at equal intervals on the seating surface.
I've seen about 1,000 places so far, but this type was a first for me!
These are functional benches where you can place drinks like coffee you bought at a cafe in Futako-Tamagawa and take a break.
"When you're resting on a bench, there's no place to put your drink, so you have to put it on the seat, but it's a bit far to reach, and you might spill it..."
These benches are the kind that address those niche inconveniences!
At the Harappa Hiroba, you can relax by sitting on the grass, and it looks like you could enjoy a picnic if you have a picnic sheet or something similar!
It's perfect for families with children!
And, if you move towards the Tama River riverbed area from the Harappa Hiroba, you'll see a deck of some kind.
I must say in advance, the benches here are so stylish that you can't help but say, "As expected of Futako-Tamagawa..."
↓This is the resting area.

Can you see it...?
This is a bench that ranks high, even in Manager Penta's opinion!
From the wooden benches on the deck, you can enjoy the view of the Tama River through the glass handrails.
Also, near the high-rise apartment building on the right, you can see the Tokyu Line that leads to Futako-Shinchi.
I'm sure it will please children who love trains!
The deck is spacious, and you can relax and unwind, making it a great date spot in Futako-Tamagawa!
And, what's this, a roof above the benches...!?

Oh, the roof is latticed.
Unfortunately, you'll get wet on rainy days, but it seems like a bright resting spot when the weather is nice.
Next, let's move from the Harappa Hiroba to a place called the Aozora Deck (Sky Deck).
If you proceed from the plaza towards the elevators and restrooms, you'll see the following resting area.

This is the Aozora Deck.
Like the resting area mentioned earlier, it has benches with excellent views and a sense of openness.
You can enjoy the scenery of the Tama River and the Tokyu Line!
The space in front of the benches is wide, so it's nice to be able to relax with a stroller or children.

You can also see the Town Front and River Front sides of the Rise Shopping Center.
On a different note, the restrooms (indoor) on the lower floor of the Aozora Deck were clean, perhaps because there were not many users. Haha!
Also, it seems like a great idea to buy a book at Tsutaya Electrics on the lower floor and enjoy reading here.
It's perfect if you get coffee to go from a nearby cafe.
Wouldn't that be like a typical Nikotama experience?
Regarding the congestion situation, I checked on a Saturday, and it was not crowded.
I, Manager Penta, estimate that it is unlikely to get crowded here.
It's a hidden gem of a resting place in Futako-Tamagawa.
Also, I'm working hard to introduce it on TikTok.

So, both the Harappa Hiroba and the Aozora Deck are great places to relax, making them convenient spots to eat your lunch in Futako-Tamagawa!
Also, the benches at the "Roof Garden 3F, Saien Hiroba" are also recommended♪

So, why not use these spots as a place to sit and relax in Futako-Tamagawa while you're shopping at Futako-Tamagawa Rise?
