"Captivated by the Bench in Front of the Rokkakudo"
Higashi-choji Temple is a short walk from Exit 1 of Gion Station.

Higashi-choji Temple of the Shingon sect was founded by Kūkai as the first spiritual site of esoteric Buddhism in Japan.
The wooden Fukuoka Daibutsu (Great Buddha) is also a highlight.

There are benches near the Sanmon (temple gate) of Higashi-choji Temple.

I was so impressed by this bench in front of the Rokkakudo!

This is the Rokkakudo, a hexagonal Buddhist hall built in 1842.
It seems to be open to the public on the 28th of every month.

The vermilion five-storied pagoda is also beautiful, and you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Personally, it's a recommended spot I'd like to visit if I'm in Hakata.
So, why not try it out as a place to take a break and sit down near Gion Station?
