Kinugawa Onsen is a hot spring town that's just about 2 hours from Tokyo, making it a perfectly "convenient" getaway.

While you might spot a few abandoned hotels, Kinugawa Onsen Station, which welcomes tourists, is really putting in the effort!

The Tobu Kinugawa Line's Kinugawa Onsen Station, where limited express trains stop, is a beautifully renovated station building.

With things like Baumkuchen and the "Kinuta no Yu" foot bath, they're aiming for a more modern, female-friendly vibe, while still keeping a touch of that Showa era charm.

The turntable in front of the station is also popular with men.

Kinugawa Onsen Station also serves as a bus terminal, providing access to tourist spots like the Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura and Tobu World Square, and there are places to sit and rest in the station square.

There were five sets of benches, each with a three-seater and a two-seater.

Since there's plenty of space, it's also convenient for strollers or as a meeting spot for groups.

It was perfect for enjoying snacks and soft-serve ice cream you bought at the convenience store-like "R Mart" or the souvenir shops.

At the edge of the station square, there was the "Kinuta no Yu" foot bath!

It's popular with tourists, and when I visited during the September holidays, it was packed with people.

If you go to the area where the souvenir shops line up from the bus terminal, you'll find benches in front of "Hachiya," famous for its Baumkuchen, where you can sit and take a break.

There were four wooden benches, and planters were placed between the benches.

As I was sitting there, I got hungry...

I really enjoyed the Baum soft-serve I bought at Hachiya Cafe on the benches...

It's also nice to drink lemon milk you bought at R Mart here! It's very Tochigi-esque.
