Did you know there's a free park right next to the Kiyosumi Garden (paid), famous for its strolling garden?
It's called the Kiyosumi Garden Children's Park section!

There was a relatively new stone monument. The "section" feels like an afterthought, though….
To get to the Kiyosumi Garden Children's Park, take the A3 exit of Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station and walk along Kiyosumi-dori towards Monzen-nakacho Station.
I think it's easy to find if you walk along Kiyosumi Garden, which has a lot of greenery.

Looking at the map, it seems there's a free area that surrounds Kiyosumi Garden in an L-shape.
The name "Combination Playground" sounds cool...
Fukagawa Library is also nearby.

This is the place called the entrance plaza. As the name suggests, it's the entrance to the park.
You can see public restrooms, a bicycle parking area and a smoking area.

Since it was named a children's park, I thought it would be small, but it's surprisingly spacious!
There are benches in the smoking area. I saw a lot of people smoking, but strangely, I didn't notice any smell or smoke….
It seems to be a special ashtray that doesn't spread the smoke. (I don't smoke, so I don't know much about it)

It's a multi-purpose plaza! Isn't it quite spacious for a park in the city center!?
It's a space where you can play a game of catch. I saw many families with children playing with balls.

And, a wooden bench for two was installed at the end of the multi-purpose plaza.
You can relax on the bench in the shade, with a fence behind you.
Since the front is an open space, it seems good for taking a break while strolling around Fukagawa.

Also, near the entrance plaza, there's a pergola with two two-seater benches.
It can also be used as a place to eat your Kiyosumi-shirakawa lunch.

And then there's the interesting combination playground area!
There are playground equipment for children, which seems just right for letting your kids play.
Also, there's a bench near the playground equipment, so it's good to be able to watch over your children while sitting down!

The laid-back panda and lion spring toys are cute.
This is the toddler area. There's also a sandbox and a mini slide.
Since the ground is made of soft rubber material, it is designed to prevent injuries even if you fall. It's reassuring that consideration is given.

Also, nearby is "Fukagawa Iseya," a Japanese confectionery store!
You can buy some "shio daifuku" (salted rice cake) or grilled dumplings and relax in the park!
Also, it's nice to borrow a book from the nearby Fukagawa Library and read it leisurely. It's a park where you can plan various things!
By the way, you can also stop by "Saichaan's Remains (Matsuo Basho)" nearby and enjoy the starting point of the "Narrow Road to the Interior."
So, why not use it as a relaxing place to sit down in Kiyosumi-shirakawa?
