To get to the rest area on the Tamagawa Josui Greenway, go to the North Exit on the right after exiting Mitaka Station.
Go down the escalator and you'll find it on your left in the station rotary, a little ways down Sakura-dori toward Musashisakai.
And, there was a seating area near the station on the Tamagawa Josui Greenway.

There are three benches that can seat three people each.
These benches have armrests in two places, so you can rest your hands and sit down slowly.
It's an oasis just a short walk from Mitaka Station!
I was able to relax and take a break surrounded by greenery.
As you can see in the photos, there's plenty of space around the benches, so you can relax without feeling cramped.
Therefore, it's nice that this bench is easy to use for families with strollers or children.

The area along the greenway is undulating, making it a great place for children to play a little.
The river flowing right next to this rest area is called "Tamagawa Josui," and it's one of the six canals that once supplied drinking water to the city of Edo.
By the way, from the south exit of Mitaka Station, you can stroll along the Tamagawa Josui to Inokashira Park in Kichijoji and the Mitaka Forest Ghibli Museum.
We recommend starting from the "Rest Area in front of the South Exit Rotary of Mitaka Station" and taking a leisurely walk around Mitaka.
If you'd like to know more about the Tamagawa Josui, you can learn about it at the free "Tokyo Waterworks Historical Museum" in Ochanomizu.
The museum is characterized by its free rest area and a PET bottle dispenser.

Also, near "Mitaka-dori" a little further along the greenway toward Musashisakai, there are two stone benches.
There are rest spots along the greenway, so why not take a walk on a nice day!?
You can also use it as a place to eat your lunch near Mitaka.
It's especially convenient when you don't have much time and want to get things done quickly.
So, why not try using it as a seating rest area around Mitaka Station?
