On the New Shuttle side of the west exit of Omiya Station, there's a shopping center called DOM.
It used to have "OPA" as its main tenant, but it closed in 2017, and Marui and Daiei are now the main facilities.
By the way, DOM is read as "Don," which means "gather a lot!"
I always thought it was the "Dom" from Dom Dom Burger...
And recently, I was surprised to learn the origin of DOM.
The current main tenants are Daiei Omiya Store and Marui Omiya Store, and it's named "D (Daiei)・O (Omiya)・M (Marui)" after their initials!
DOM reminds me of "Koizumi Farm" or "Kioi-cho," which are made up of three initials!
Putting the introduction aside, you can directly access DOM from the pedestrian deck on the west exit of Omiya Station.
If you go to the right on the deck from the west exit, you'll see the 2nd floor entrances of DOM and Marui, so enter DOM.
Then, take the elevator in DOM to the rooftop RF.

The RF plaza is called "Rooftop Aozora Park" (Rooftop Blue Sky Park).
The adjacent Konami Tennis Club is open until 21:30, but the park is open from 10:00 to 19:00.
And, there was a place in the Aozora Park where you could sit and take a break.

There were 16 wooden benches, each with three seats.
In the rooftop park, where there are few obstructions, artificial turf is laid in some places, and the central area is a rest area.
My impression was, "It's huge...!" but there wasn't much thought put into it, and in a way, it felt desolate.
It has a large space, so it might become popular if it were landscaped like "Omiya Lumine 2 4F Rooftop Garden."

The wooden benches were a little worn, but the legs are firmly made of stone, so they didn't wobble.
It's a wide area where children can run around, so it's suitable for families to take a break.

This is the view of the Omiya Station terminal from the edge of the Aozora Park.
"Hmm...? Is the rooftop of Omiya Station a parking lot!?"

Since this is the usual view of the west exit of Omiya Station, I didn't notice...
The rooftop is developed like this.

You can see the DOM sign from the pedestrian deck of Omiya Station up close!
DOMDOMDOM!
It can also be used when you want to eat lunch outdoors in a spacious place near Omiya Station.
So, why not use it as a place to take a break near Omiya while you're shopping at DOM?
