Kanezuka Park is an urban park located next to Omiya Sonic City, which was opened at the same time as Sonic City.
You might be wondering, "Why 'Kanezuka'?" Well, the story goes that during the Warring States period, the monks who lived in the building were ordered to provide a large bell, but they refused and buried the bell in the ground, which is the origin of the name.
To get to Kanezuka Park, go along the pedestrian deck on the west exit of Omiya Station in the direction of Sonic City.

It's just a 4-minute walk from Omiya Station, and the area around Sonic City has been beautifully redeveloped, making it a comfortable park.
And, there are several places in Kanezuka Park where you can sit down and take a break.

On the pedestrian deck side that leads to Omiya Station, there were square benches around the planted trees, with a capacity for about 8 people.
The spacing between the benches and the foot space is wide, so you can take a break without worrying about your neighbors.

A waterway was set up next to the benches.
Although artificial, it's an environment that incorporates nature even though it's in an urban area.
It's a great park to use when you want to take a break in Omiya with your family and children!

There is a small waterfall, and it seems that the water is drawn from here to the waterway.
Let's take a break here and absorb some negative ions (old school, right?).
Also, this statue is of Sukeshichi Shirai, a person who greatly contributed to the opening of Omiya Station.
It seems that the only stations along the Takasaki Line from Ueno to Kumagaya at the time were Oji, Urawa, Ageo, and Konosu.

There was a monument on the opposite side of the pedestrian deck.
This was a space like a circular plaza.

Many benches were installed around the monument.
There were plantings and trees behind the benches, creating an environment where you can feel nature even though you're surrounded by a concrete jungle.
At this rest area, there were people reading books and eating lunch.
You can also use it as a place to eat your lunch in Omiya!

The benches are designed like a series of planks, and it seems that the ventilation is good.
And what about those interesting round backrests?
Unlike the previous benches, the width of the seating surface is slightly narrower, so the backrest worked well when you sat down.
It was also at this rest area, but the round shape fits your lower back well and is comfortable to sit on.

You can go to the staircase plaza of Sonic City near the monument. This complex space is quite interesting.
Kanezuka Park is also used as an event venue.
When you're tired of the crowds in Omiya, it's a great place to take a break.
It's also a convenient park for meeting up with friends or groups in Omiya!
If you want to relax indoors, "Sonic City B1F" on the bottom of the staircase plaza is quiet and recommended!
So, why not use it as a rest area where you can sit down around Omiya?
