This rest area is located along the Jakurezuregawa Greenway near Maruyama Park in Sangenjaya.
The reading is "Jakurezuregawa". Sounds cool, doesn't it!
To get to Jakurezuregawa Greenway, head towards Komazawa University along the Tamagawa-dori, the main road in front of Sangenjaya Station, following the Metropolitan Expressway overhead.
After passing Shimamura and Sports Club Renaissance, you'll see the greenway just before the Setagaya Post Office.
And, there's a seating area along the greenway as shown below.

The greenway winds through the residential area.
It's a lush and peaceful walking path.
As you go further, the greenery becomes denser, and you'll see wooden benches on your right.

Someone was reading a book in the shade!
It looks nice to relax and read a book on the benches along this path.
It was a midsummer day with temperatures exceeding 30℃ when we investigated, but it felt cool because of the shade.
Now, let's focus on the benches.

These are wooden benches for two people.
As you might expect from outdoor benches, their condition is as it is, but they have armrests in the middle, making them perfect for a break while walking along the greenway.
There is a dedicated space for the benches, so pedestrians on the greenway won't bump into your legs.

If you head towards Maruyama Park, you'll see more benches.
There are four similar benches between Setagaya Post Office and Maruyama Park.
I think there are enough seats for the distance.
Now, let's also touch on the "Jakurezuregawa Greenway," which you might be curious about.

The name "Jakurezuregawa" sounds like it could be adopted for a character's last name in an anime.
The origin of Jakurezuregawa is thought to be a legend that a giant snake came out from a cliff that collapsed in a major flood.
However, there are various other theories, so please check it out if you are interested.
And the Jakurezuregawa Greenway is a greenway created by covering the Jakurezuregawa, a tributary of the Meguro River, in other words, an underground waterway.
The Jakurezuregawa merges with the Meguro River under the platform of Nakameguro Station.
Since the Meguro River is famous for its cherry blossoms, I'd like to take a walk there when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
So, why not use it as a rest area where you can sit down near Sangenjaya Station?
