Just a 10-minute trip from Yokosuka, you'll find the uninhabited island of Sarushima!
At the northern tip of the island, you'll discover a rocky area known as "Oimono-hana" (in the local dialect, a "nose" refers to a promontory).
The terminal for Sarushima Pier is located in the bottom right of the map, and Oimono-hana is in the top left.

Near Oimono-hana, you'll find a battery built during the end of the Edo period.
It was one of three batteries built on the island by the Edo shogunate to defend against foreign ships!
Looking at the map, you can see other battery ruins, too.
And, near the battery ruins...

Wow! There's a fantastic four-person table and seating area with a wonderful view!
Despite being located by the sea, it's kept in great condition, making it perfect for families to take a break!
It's a great spot to enjoy your lunch while gazing at the sea of Sarushima Island♪

You really feel like you're on an island! On a clear day, you might even be able to see as far as the Boso Peninsula!
Indeed, it's not that far to Cape Futtsu in Chiba Prefecture.
(It's often said that National Route 16 on the sea connects Kurihama in Kanagawa Prefecture and Cape Futtsu in Chiba Prefecture.)

I went down to the rocky area of Oimono-hana!
There were many people enjoying swimming and observing the tide pools. It's a popular spot for children.

That's right, the uninhabited island of Sarushima is also a great fishing spot!
Oimono-hana (rocky area), Yone no Ne (rocky area), and Satetsu no Hama (surf) are recommended fishing points, where you can aim for sea bass.
And, even though it's an uninhabited island, you can rent fishing rods, making it easy to enjoy fishing, which is nice!

It's a really nice table and seating area. Keep it in mind when you want to relax on Sarushima Island!
Of course, it's also great for a date on Sarushima Island!?
Also, if you're interested, please take a look at the article about how I enjoyed Yokosuka, including Sarushima Island!
It's easily accessible from Tokyo, just a 45-minute ride from Shinagawa, so I recommend it.
