Have you heard of the Shibuya River?
I just learned about it recently. Until the south side of Shibuya was developed, it was underground.
Then, in September 2018, with the opening of Shibuya Stream and Shibuya Bridge, the Shibuya River reappeared!
It's called the Shibuya River because it's in Shibuya – easy to remember! (Apparently, it used to be called the Ondagawa River)

Here's the view of the walking path that was created along the Shibuya River!
It's a great walk from Shibuya Stream to Shibuya Bridge.

This is what it looks like from Shibuya Stream.
You can see that the Shibuya River meanders a bit!
To get to the walking path along the Shibuya River, you can access it from exit 16b of various train lines, via Shibuya Stream.
Alternatively, you can exit the JR south ticket gate and walk across the pedestrian deck over Tamagawa-dori and the Shuto Expressway.
Then, head for the Kinokashi Plaza on the 1st floor of Shibuya Stream.

When you pass through the Kinokashi Plaza in Shibuya Stream, you'll see a concrete walkway, greenery, and an object representing the former Tokyu Toyoko Line tracks.
It's a new walking path, so it's well-maintained, which is great.
There are also subtle illuminations to enjoy.

I found a bench with a concrete base and a wooden seat!
Does this bench mean that the seat is the rail (sleeper) of the former Tokyu Toyoko Line, and the side steel plate is the former underground section of the Shibuya River!?
How deep!
Still, it's a tall bench. It looks like you'd jump on and sit with your legs dangling♪

Don't worry, there are also proper benches.
The flat wooden benches have wide seats, making them easy to use for families with children!
You can also sit here and enjoy your lunch from Shibuya.

There were two-person benches scattered along the walking path.
What do the numbers mean? Pit depth?

This bench really caught my eye!
The flowers were also beautiful, but the arrangement was amazing! What do I mean...

It's a bench where you can overlook the Shibuya River!
The layout of the bench is also exquisite, creating a dead-end feel, and the back is planted with greenery, so you can relax and rest.
You know, the feeling of being tucked away in a building, do you get it!? (lol)

"Oh, a Spot-billed duck!"
I can meet a spot-billed duck in Shibuya – walking along the Shibuya River is quite fun.
And then...

Outdoor unit art in Shibuya River buildings!
These outdoor units probably wouldn't have appeared until the area around the Shibuya River was redeveloped.
I recently saw a program called "Matsuko's Unknown World" about outdoor unit enthusiasts, and I understood the appeal.

I strolled along to Shibuya Bridge!
There are benches there, and many families were using them for a break.

It's a three-person bench on the lawn.
The concrete with a wooden seat has an urban design feel, which is wonderful.
If you want to take a break in Shibuya, remember this place~.

And the building next to the entrance of Shibuya Bridge.
Hmm... is this a design flaw!?
When you open the door, you have to swing your arm around.
So, this was an introduction to the benches where you can take a break during your walk from Shibuya Stream to Shibuya Bridge.
I think it's a great course for taking a break and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of Shibuya!
Also, there are stylish benches at "Shibuya Bridge," so be sure to stop by when you get here♪

That's all for the places to take a seat and rest around Shibuya. Why not give them a try?
