Mines Tower, a 34-story office building, stands along the main street behind the JR East headquarters building in Shinjuku's Southern Terrace.
While it's an office building, the tenant floors are accessible to the public, with restaurants on B1F and a Starbucks on the 1st floor.
To get to Mines Tower, you can access it directly from Exit A1 if you're taking the subway or Keio Line.
For JR lines, it's visible if you pass by the JR East headquarters building from the South Exit or the New South Ticket Gate.
(The route guide link at the bottom of the article is easy to understand, so please check that for details.)
And, there's a place to sit and take a break in front of the Starbucks on the 1st floor of Mines Tower!
There were three three-seater cushion benches.
On weekdays, many office workers were using them to organize their belongings.
Others included families with children and young people sitting and resting.
Those who know about Mines Tower besides office-related people...
Are probably those who have heard information like, "Starbucks in Mines Tower is a hidden gem!"
I checked on a weekday evening, but perhaps because the information has spread quite a bit, it was completely full and not a hidden gem at all (lol).
It's often the case that hidden spots are no longer hidden gems, isn't it?
Also, I remember that the entrance to Mines Tower was closed on weekends and holidays...but I'm not quite sure about that.
If anyone knows, please let me know.
So, why not use it as a place to take a break around Shinjuku, perhaps while you're there to use the restaurants?
