Located in the skyscraper district of Nishi-Shinjuku is Joen-ji Temple, a Nichiren Buddhist temple.
To get to Joen-ji Temple, walk towards the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building from the "Ome-kaido West" intersection on Ome-kaido Street. You'll find it on your right after passing the Kawaijuku Shinjuku School.
And, when you enter the temple grounds from the front gate with the skyscrapers behind you, you'll find a seating area in front of the main hall.

There are three wooden tables for four people each and two wooden benches for two people each.
It's just a 6-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, and despite being surrounded by the busy Ome-kaido Street and buildings, it's a serene and refreshing temple.
These table seats allow you to escape the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku and enjoy a calm atmosphere.
And, the large tree above the benches is a weeping cherry tree.
It might be a hidden spot for cherry blossom viewing in Shinjuku in the spring.
With the magnificent main hall in front and the weeping cherry tree surrounding the benches, it's a lovely sight.
It seems that yoga classes are also held here.
Furthermore, at these table seats...

Guess what? You can use free Wi-Fi!
It's such a thoughtful service for visitors to have Wi-Fi available at a temple.
This is a temple I would recommend to foreign tourists and those sightseeing in Shinjuku.
So, why not visit and use it as a relaxing spot around Shinjuku while you're there?
