To get to Sugamo Sakura-Namiki Street, exit Sugamo Station and head towards the main street called Hakusan-dori, which is National Route 17.
Then, the road that continues along the Yamanote Line tracks from Sugamo Bridge is "Sugamo Sakura-Namiki Street."
There was a place where you could sit and take a break on the way towards Otsuka on Sakura-Namiki Street.

There was a bench with a three-seater hip rest in front of a chiropractic clinic.
It's a bench you often see on the platforms of private railway stations.
Because there's a bench near the cherry trees, I was able to take a break in the shade even during the strong summer sunlight.

It has a backrest, so it was more comfortable than I expected.
Since the bench is located slightly away from the walkway, you can rest without your feet bumping into pedestrians.
It seems like a good place to use when you want to take a quick break during cherry blossom viewing or a walk.

Next is a single wooden bench placed by itself.
It's just enough to sit down for a while or organize your luggage.
I actually put my bag down here and rehydrated, haha.

It's partially shaded, but it seemed to get more sunlight than the previous bench.
If you sit facing the road, it seems like you can use the space around your feet well.
Speaking of which, at the entrance to Sakura-Namiki Street from Sugamo Bridge, there was a "Somei Yoshino Monument."
I thought I'd heard of it before... it's the Somei Yoshino cherry blossom, isn't it!?
In the Edo period, the area around Sugamo and Komagome was called Somei Village, and it was famous for Somei horticulture, which included ornamental plants and flowers.
The cherry blossom that was created through variety improvement was named "Somei Yoshino" after the place name, and it became a famous cherry blossom variety not only in Japan but also worldwide.
That's right, the Somei Yoshino has its roots in Sugamo (Somei area)!
So, why not visit in the spring for cherry blossom viewing as the birthplace of Somei Yoshino!?
Especially for those who are tired of cherry blossom viewing in Ueno Park and Meguro River.
So, why not use these as resting places around Sugamo Station?
