Panda Bridge is a bridge connecting the pedestrian deck in front of Ueno Station and Ueno Park (Zoo area).
To get to Panda Bridge, head for the Iriya ticket gate on the 2nd floor of JR Ueno Station.
You might think, "I always use the Central ticket gate, but the Iriya ticket gate...?"
Remember that the stairs going up from the Ueno Station platform lead to the Iriya ticket gate (2F), and the stairs going down lead to the Central ticket gate (1F).

When you exit the Iriya ticket gate and go out to the pedestrian deck, you will see the Panda Bridge entrance like this.
You should find it easily, as there is a giant panda stuffed animal right next to it.

This is the view of Ueno Park from Panda Bridge.
Actually, it's quite spacious and less crowded than the Central ticket gate or the Park ticket gate, so the Panda Bridge entrance is recommended if you're meeting someone at the Ueno Zoo or museum!
And, there are steps on both sides of Panda Bridge where you can sit.

It's like sitting at the edge of a bridge. (Pun intended)
There are actually people sitting there waiting for someone, or eating lunch.
If you don't have time to walk to Ueno Park, but want to quickly eat lunch in front of the station, you can use it for that!

You can rest assured because a giant panda is watching over you.
By the way, didn't the little panda in the front used to be sitting in a glass case near the center of the Iriya ticket gate floor?
Except for near the escalator leading to the Hibiya Line, Panda Bridge has no roof, so there is no protection from rain or sun.
It's suitable as a meeting place or a gathering spot for groups at Ueno Station.
By the way, the place on Panda Bridge where you can sit is also where Takemoto-kun was recruited in the story of "Seiai no Ie" in Volume 18 of "Yamikin Ushijima-kun."
It's a bit of a shocking story, but if you're interested, please check it out...

So, why not use it as a place to take a break around Ueno Station?
