If you're in Ueno, you definitely have to check out Ueno Park! But did you know it's also home to a statue of Takamori Saigo?
To get to the statue of Takamori Saigo, head for the Shinobazu ticket gate at JR Ueno Station.
The downstairs stairs from the station platform lead to the Shinobazu ticket gate, while the upstairs stairs lead to the Iriya ticket gate and the park ticket gate, so go down the stairs to the ticket gate.
When you exit the Shinobazu ticket gate, you'll find a large intersection. From there, take the elevator in either UENO3153 (near the Saigo statue) or Sakura Terrace to the top floor.

And then, you'll come to a terrace that directly connects to Ueno Park, as shown in the photo.
You can see the Yodobashi Panda from the terrace!

And right next to it is the statue of Takamori Saigo!
It's a magnificent bronze statue, and you can really feel its dignity when you see it up close.

And there are benches on the terrace where you can sit and take a break!
The terrace has glass walls, so you can enjoy the view of the buildings on Chuo-dori.
(You can't look down because of the fall prevention measures.)

These are urban-designed wooden benches, and the area around the feet is lit up.
It's nice to relax and take a break while gazing at the scenery around Ueno Station from the terrace♪

I visited at night, and the illumination was on, creating a nice atmosphere.
However, the temporary-looking tree feels a bit out of place, and maybe something with a bit more charm would be better (lol)

Hmm, I like these benches!
Not only can you relax surrounded by the trees of Ueno Park, but the collaboration with the stylish streetlights and Quattro Stagioni is wonderful♪
How about it as a date spot in Ueno!?

It's a two-seater bench, and I think it's a place where you can relax, even though it's close to Ueno Station.
In the summer, it'll be a bench in the shade.
Also, it's perfect for using as a place to eat your lunch in Ueno.
So, why not give it a try as a place to take a break and sit down around Ueno Station?
