We've started a survey of rest areas overseas! Our destination is "Taipei."
One of the recommended spots often mentioned for Taiwan travel is "Houtong Cat Village"!
What is a Cat Village...?
As the name suggests, it's a cat village where many cats live♪

"So many tourists are here today too~"
Not only can you meet cats, but there are also cat goods and cafes, making it a paradise for cat lovers♪
To get to Houtong Cat Village, take the express train (Ziqiang) from Taipei Station to Ruifang Station, and then it's one stop away on the Yilan Line or the Pingxi Line.
The trains can get crowded on the way to Ruifang, so if you get tired, take a break at the following rest spot before heading to Houtong♪
So, we checked out places where you can sit and rest while sightseeing in Houtong Cat Village!

Houtong Station has a distinctive connecting passage that looks like a cat's path.
On the opposite side of the Cat Village, there are ruins that used to be a coal factory and the rural landscape of the Keelung River.
Apparently, it was a coal mining town that flourished when Taiwan was under Japanese rule, and the Mitsui Mining Company operated a coal preparation plant here.
Now, let's go to the Cat Village through this connecting passage from the station ticket gate♪

There's a bench in the connecting passage where you can sit and rest with a cat couple!

There are red lanterns hanging in the passage, which feels a bit like Jiufen.
Depending on the season, the trains to Houtong can be crowded, and you might be exhausted by the time you arrive.
So, when you arrive in Houtong, let's take a break here first.
We visited during the three-day weekend in October, and the train was extremely crowded, so Pen-ta took a break for a while.

It was a wide bench with a unique structure of connected wooden frames.
There's a backrest, but it's so wide that it might not reach (laughs)
It's easy to use for a quick rest, even for families with children, so keep that in mind.

After resting on the bench, let's take a walk around the Cat Village♪
Cats are said to appear from here on!
Also, there are benches in the Cat Village that are empty and have a good view, so please stop by.
By the way, I used an LCC for the first time on a trip to Taiwan, and it was more comfortable than I expected, and I was able to go to Taiwan cheaply!
Here's a report on what the inside of the LCC looks like and what I learned from using it.
So, how about using the Houtong Station as a place to sit and rest?
